Study reveals porn viewed by every 14-year old boy

Apr 4

Every singe boy of 14 in the UK has access to pornography and most have seen such material, a government minister has claimed.

Deputy children's commissioner, Sue Berelowitz, explained that the volume of boys who have access to pornographic material is so large that it should invoke "moral panic" in parents, dailymail.co.uk reports.

Berelowitz was referring to as yet unpublished research which found that in one English school, every single year nine boy was accessing pornography. It wasn't solely limited to the boys either, with around half of the 14-year old girls also having access to the adult material.

The "moral panic" of which Berelowitz was speaking may have stemmed from the belief that the girls who'd accessed pornography hadn't done so of their own free will but were made to by the boys. Furthermore, even those as young as 11 had been "actively" seeking out pornographic material.

Viewing this material at such a young age, whilst children are still developing, could - analysts have warned - bring about profound changes to their emotions and additudes, which can kick-start a porn addiction or alter their views on the opposite sex forever.

Berelowitz told telegraph.co.uk: "We have commissioned research into young people's understanding of consent. It raises very serious questions about whether boys in particular have any understanding of the concept of consent."
