Porn Usage Statistics – What’s going on?

  • There are an estimated 420 MILLION porn web pages online.
  • 72 MILLION people use internet porn every single month – 30% are women
  • 70% of men aged 18-34 use internet porn at least once a month
  • 25% of search engine requests are porn related
  • 33% of daily downloads are pornographic
  • Average age of first exposure to internet porn is now 11 and 70% of teenagers have seen online porn
  • 2.5 BILLION emails per day are pornographic
  • Internet porn is a $320 BILLION industry

Porn Problems Statistics – And how does it affect people?

  • 10% of all adults admit having an internet sex addiction – nearly 1/3 of these are women.
  • 70% of porn users keep it secret and 40% want to change their use or give it up
  • Porn is cited by professionals and in divorce papers as a major cause of divorce and relationship problems
  • 68% of cybersex using couples surveyed said that as a result of cybersex, one or both partners had lost interest in relational sex
  • 50% of porn users report at least one negative consequence of their use
  • 40% of cybersex addicts progress to real life, unsafe sex addiction like prostitution or promiscuity with strangers
  • Up to 15% of porn users develop compulsive sexual behaviours
  • 72% of sex addicts have thought of attempting suicide – 17% attempt suicide
  • 13% of women and 20% of men use porn at work, putting their jobs at risk – and 1/3 of companies have sacked someone for porn use at work

We think the statistics above are amazing and indicate just how widespread the problem with porn is, and just how many people like you want to change this aspect of their lives. It’s also clear that there are a whole range of potential negative consequences from porn usage, ranging from career and relationship issues through to serious potential harm. The main thing though to understand from these statistics is simple – you’re not alone, and help is available.
